A family from Boston has commissioned a new "modern southern vernacular" residence for a 3 acre site along Ivy Creek in Western Albemarle County. The land slopes 60 feet and due south from the street to the creek, which will afford maximum exposure to natural light throughout the day.

Planned exterior materials are a combination of manganese ironspot smooth brick from Endicott, traditional red brick that has been whitewashed in a natural mineral based quartz-lime paint from Romabio, Nigiri Accoya wood planks installed in a rainscreen method, and Equitone fiber cement panels.

Stay tuned for design images as the project develops.
